Radiation Treatment for Cancer Patients
Health Matters is a weekly radio show sponsored by the Medicine Center Pharmacy on WHBC 1480 AM in Canton, Ohio. In this episode, Paul White, Brad White, Dr. Steven Olyejar ( Aultman Radiation Oncology ), and Tina Biasella ( Vice President, Cancer Services ), and thanks to our sponsors Aultman Health System, Studio Arts & Glass, and Jenior Appraisals and Liquidations. discusses radiation treatment for cancer patients.
More than 14 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed globally each year; radiation therapy (RT) has the potential to improve the rates of cure for 3.5 million people and provide palliative relief for an additional 3.5 million people. These conservative estimates are based on the fact that approximately 50 percent of all cancer patients can benefit from Radiation Therapy in the management of their disease.
A Radiation Oncologist is a doctor who specializes in providing radiation treatment to cancer patients. They work closely with team members to create a treatment plan. We will talk with Dr. Olyejar and Tina about radiation treatments for cancer as well as the exciting news they have to share about the opening of Aultman’s new cancer center.
